Stonor Park stands as one of England's oldest family homes, having been the residence of the Stonor family for over 850 years. This enduring legacy is reflected in the estate's rich history, architectural evolution, and unwavering commitment to the Catholic faith.​

The house itself is a harmonious blend of medieval, Tudor, and Georgian architecture. Behind its warm red brick façade lies a collection of much older structures, with origins dating back to the late 12th century. The Chapel of the Blessed Trinity, added around a hundred years later, remains a testament to the family's enduring faith. Over the centuries, a series of additions and renovations, including the adoption of the E-shape around 1540, have evolved into the extraordinary building visitors see today. ​

The Stonor family's steadfast adherence to Catholicism, even during periods of persecution, is deeply interwoven with the estate's history. The Chapel of the Blessed Trinity, built in the 13th century, served as a sanctuary for Jesuit priests during the Reformation. In 1581, the Jesuit priest Edmund Campion sought refuge at Stonor Park, where he printed his renowned pamphlet, 'Decem Rationes,' on a secret press. This act of defiance underscores the family's enduring commitment to their faith.​

William Stonor and his wife, Lady Ailsa, became its full-time custodians in 2016, continuing the family's legacy of stewardship.
