In Conversation With: James Lowsley Williams and Charles Berkeley: Rivals, Rutshire & the Reality of the Living House
Two houses. One series. A great deal of history, briefly interrupted by the cast of Rivals.
Chavenage House has stood since 1383, and has been home to the Lowsley-Williams family since 1891 - virtually unchanged, and quite used to having cameras turn up. Berkeley Castle has belonged to the same family for over 850 years, surviving sieges, scandal, and the death of a king. Both have found themselves part of Rutshire: Chavenage as The Priory, the O'Hara family home, and Berkeley's grounds as the setting for the Rutshire Cup polo match.
On the 29th June, James Lowsley-Williams and Charles Berkeley join HeritageXplore for an evening on what it's really like when a production the size of Rivals arrives at your home - the bargains struck, the rooms transformed, and what's left behind once the crew packs up. Two custodians, two extraordinary houses, and an honest look at life behind the cameras.
This is your backstage pass.
