Paint the Town Red: A Day at the Races
Head to the historic Croxton Park Racecourse on Saturday 10th October for Paint the Town Red - a spectacular day of amateur racing, live entertainment, food and drink, and countryside celebration on the Belvoir Estate. Guests will enjoy five flat races over six furlongs, featuring amateur jockeys riding hunting horses, sport horses, and thoroughbreds, set against a vibrant social atmosphere with entertainment running throughout the day. The event takes its name from one of Croxton Park's most infamous stories: following a race meeting in 1837, a group of revellers reportedly daubed buildings and doors with red paint after being refused entry to Melton Mowbray - an incident widely linked to the origins of the phrase "Paint the Town Red." We'll be celebrating that colourful piece of history with a day of racing, entertainment, and countryside camaraderie. Paint the Town Red is proud to support the Countryside Alliance, raising funds and awareness for the people, traditions, businesses, and communities that make rural Britain so special.
