Summer Opera at Kelvedon Hall I The Elixir of Love
Wild Arts Opera presents a weekend of opera in the Old Rose Garden to at Kelvedon Hall.
The performances takes place in a beautiful large marquee that will span the Rose Garden Amphitheatre, with grass embankments and perfect acoustics.
On the seoncd evening, Wild Arts presents Donizetti's The Elixir of Love. With all the zip and joie de vivre of the original, director Guido Martin-Brandis relocates Donizetti’s sparkling opera to a 1950s seaside, with a mischievous English translation. This riotous tale of lovers and luck-chasing liars is the perfect summer treat. A cast of exceptional singers is accompanied by the Wild Arts Ensemble, a hand-picked selection of the UK’s finest chamber musicians directed by Wild Arts’ Artistic Director Orlando Jopling.
You are welcome to arrive from 12pm to set up your picnic lunch in the gardens, and bring food, drink, rugs, chairs, tables, friends, and candelabras. You will be ushered into the Rose Garden marquee for the performance at 3pm, and there'll be 30-minute interval at 4pm before Act II, which will end at approximately 5.30pm.
