For the fourth Essex Summer Opera Festival at Layer Marney Tower, Wild Arts revives its hit production of Donizetti's The Elixir of Love. With all the zip and joie de vivre of the original, director Guido Martin-Brandis relocates Donizetti’s sparkling opera to a 1950s seaside, with a mischievous English translation. This riotous tale of lovers and luck-chasing liars is the perfect summer treat. A cast of exceptional singers is accompanied by the Wild Arts Ensemble, a hand-picked selection of the UK’s finest chamber musicians directed by Wild Arts’ Artistic Director Orlando Jopling.

You are welcome to arrive from 12.30pm to enjoy the gardens and set up your picnic. The performance will start at 3pm in the Opera Barn with a 20-minute interval, finishing at approximately 5.30pm.
