About

Mannington Hall is a captivating moated manor that blends medieval heritage with enduring family stewardship. Constructed around 1460 by William Lumnor, a notable figure connected to the esteemed Paston family, the Hall showcases classic Gothic architecture, featuring knapped flint walls, crenellated parapets, and distinctive turrets .

Over the centuries, Mannington has been home to influential families, including the Potts in the 16th century, who played significant roles during the English Civil War. In 1736, the estate was acquired by Horatio Walpole, brother to Sir Robert Walpole, Britain's first Prime Minister. While initially serving as an extension to the nearby Wolterton estate, Mannington evolved into the primary residence for the Walpole family in the 19th century, a tradition that continues today .

The Hall is enveloped by enchanting gardens, renowned for their extensive rose collections, tranquil water features, and historic follies. These gardens not only offer a visual feast but also reflect the family's commitment to conservation and sustainability, providing habitats for diverse wildlife .
