HeritageXplore x The Dot Project – Artist-in-Residence Programme 2025
At HeritageXplore, we strongly believe in celebrating and reimagining the stories of Britain’s historic houses. In partnership with London Gallery, The Dot Project, we are delighted to be launching our first Artist-in-Residence Programme: a unique opportunity to witness contemporary artists transform some of the UK’s most iconic historic homes. Through this collaboration, these historic spaces will be reinvigorated by the creative vision of artists who are inspired by the histories and atmospheres of each property.
This exciting programme will feature residencies at three extraordinary sites: Belvoir Castle, Elveden Hall, and Kelvedon Hall. Each artist will immerse themselves in their chosen house, forging personal relationships with the space and creating new works of art inspired by their time there. The result will be a series of exhibitions that will offer a fresh lens through which to experience these magnificent estates.
Tickets will be available to purchase from 18th August. To be added to the waitlist for each residency, please email info@heritagexplore.com.
Belvoir Castle: 4th & 5th November (with a possible additional date in September)
Artist: Nick Jensen
Nick Jensen will spend October 2025 at Belvoir Castle, developing a new body of work in response to the castle’s layered cultural and physical landscape. Rooted in perception and sensation, Jensen’s practice explores how we interpret and reframe the world around us. Working with an intuitive mixture of distemper and oil paint, he creates paintings that capture fleeting glimpses of play, intimacy, and pause.
Living and working within the castle, Jensen will draw from both its grand interiors and overlooked details, treating Belvoir not as a static monument but as a place alive with memory, time, and use. Installed throughout the castle’s interiors in November, the resulting works will form a dialogue between contemporary abstraction and centuries of history, reframing the castle as both responsive and resonant.

Elveden Hall: Open Days 8th–11th October
Artist: Jack Penny
During his summer residency, Jack Penny will create a new body of work inspired by the complex history and atmosphere of his setting: the ever enigmatic Elveden Hall. Penny’s practice delves into the primal instincts behind human behaviour, using humour and tension to explore themes of belonging, tradition, and reinvention. His exhibition will be on display in October, offering a provocative exploration of British mythology and national memory.

Kelvedon Hall: Open Days 29th- 30th September and 1st October
Artists: Heath Wae & Tais Rose Wae
This summer, Australian artists Heath Wae and Tais Rose Wae will undertake a residency at Kelvedon Hall, an 18th-century Grade I listed estate just 19 miles from London. Their collaborative practice will explore themes of impermanence, inheritance, and the spiritual dimensions of place. Their exhibition, showcasing earth-hued paintings and suspended textile forms, will reflect and reimagine the estate’s rich cultural and architectural landscape.
