Stonor Park

Dating back to the 12th century, Stonor Park is home to one of England’s oldest private Catholic chapels. This richly decorated chapel has been a symbol of the Stonor family's steadfast faith through periods of religious turmoil, including the Reformation. Its beautiful stained glass and historic artifacts showcase the family's resilience and deep spiritual heritage, offering visitors a profound glimpse into their enduring Catholic traditions.  

 

Stansted Park  

The Chapel of St. Paul, built by Reverend Lewis Way in 1807 on the ruins of the old manor house, holds significant historical and architectural importance. Its East window, which uniquely combines Christian and Jewish iconography, serves as a captivating feature, while the finely carved wooden details add to its serene beauty. The chapel has long been a space for quiet reflection, offering peace to both the estate’s community and its visitors. One of its most notable guests was poet John Keats, who attended its consecration service on 25 January 1819. Keats was deeply influenced by the chapel’s imagery, incorporating it into his poems 'The Eve of St Agnes' and 'The Eve of St Mark.'

 

Eastnor Castle

Constructed in the 19th century, the Chapel of St. John the Baptist at Eastnor Castle is a quiet haven of worship and reflection. Known for its intricate stained glass windows and warm wooden interiors, the chapel reflects the castle’s dual identity as a family home and spiritual sanctuary. Belvoir Castle

The Chapel of St. Mary Magdalene at Belvoir Castle, constructed in the 19th century, is a magnificent space steeped in history. Designed in a Gothic Revival style by architect John Sherwin Gregory, it serves as a private place of worship for the Manners family. The chapel’s stunning stained glass windows, intricate woodwork, and beautifully painted ceilings reflect both the grandeur of the castle and the spiritual dedication of its owners. Today, it stands as a testament to the enduring link between the castle and its religious heritage.
